Sepertinya pabrikan komputer pribadi berbasis Hong Kong, Metalware, telah mengirim beberapa netbook mereka ke Filipina. Saya menemukan dua model PeeCee Mini mereka di Octagon sore ini.

Saya memeriksa situs web mereka dan mereka memiliki setidaknya 3 model yang ada -- PeeCee Mini M102, PeeCee Mini DB01 dan he HSDPA-capable PeeCee Mini G+ 3.5G.

From the looks of it, the ones that I saw earlier was the M102 and the DB01 Diamond netbook. Beside the Intel Atom sticker is an AhnLab sticker but turns out it was just an anti-virus company.

The sales people at Octagon says it runs an Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz with 1GB RAM and 160GB HDD running Windows XP. The netbooks retail for only Php15,900 so it's a good deal compared to the branded ones that sell for Php19k to Php24k. They add that it comes with a 1-year warranty from the store.

Netbooks are just primarily used for net activities. I guess going for high specs need not to be emphasized.

good deal but i was hoping they could endure 7-8hours of wifi at a relatively clear LCD brightness.

it doesn’t really matter I guess if netbooks are made in very high quality because after all, they are just made for web surfing, checking emails, and writing documents.. :) all netbooks pretty much have the same specs, the only difference is the design, built, and BRAND! Hehe.. but they all do run with the same processor..

@yuga: anyway, how about X-Pad 2160? do you have any word about it? I just got my retention from Smart and they offered me a free X-Pad 2160 Netbook.. it has 2gb ram and 160gb hard drive.. i tried to search the internet, but found no websites about it.. i saw pictures of it at smart wireless center and the back panel of the screen has designs on it! i can’t wait to see it in real life, really soon! hehe..

Sounds like a good start, hope this will be the thrust this year and onwards – low-priced netbooks. These things should really be made affordable to most of us.

I think the unit is pretty nice for it’s price but I don’t think the 1 year warranty from Octagon as an added bonus… They do have a notoriously bad after sales service actually.
