Supercomputers, these are computers that are designed to handle high-performance computing. These machines are equipped with large numbers of superfast processors and are mostly used for research, simulations, and other processes that involve massive amounts of data. Take a look at the world’s top ten fastest supercomputers as compiled by AIS.

Performance of these systems were measured using LINPACK Benchmark. Scope of the list includes supercomputers built from 2010 to 2013.

As you can see, the list is dominated by supercomputers built by the U.S. of A. with a total of five. Germany and China tie up with two each with the latter claiming the top spot with the Tianhe-2 supercomputer.
The Tianhe-2 has 16,000 nodes, each with two Intel Xeon Ivy Bridge processors and three Xeon Phi processors for a combined total of 3,120,000 computing cores.
