0:00The Samsung Galaxy Zfold 7 is a lot
0:04thinner than ever before, but it’s also
0:07a lot more expensive. With a starting
0:09price of 112,990
0:11pesos for the entry-level variant, it’s
0:14by no means cheap. I mean, it’s never
0:16been cheap, but it’s a lot more
0:18expensive now. But there’s no doubt
0:20Samsung made a lot of changes to the
0:21Galaxy Zfold 7 Bolt inside and out. And
0:24if you haven’t checked out our first
0:25impressions of this phone, you should
0:27know we were very impressed by it. But
0:29now we’ve had this phone for quite a
0:31long time and we’re curious if it’s
0:34worth it. But the more important
0:35question is this. Is it worth the
0:38upgrade? Well, I’m a from this review.
0:42[Music]
0:48As I’ve mentioned earlier, the Samsung
0:50Galaxy ZFold 7 is a lot thinner than
0:52before. It now measures only 8.9 mm
0:55thick. For reference, that’s nearly as
0:57thin as my iPhone 16 Pro. Without the
0:59case, the iPhone 16 Pro measures 8.3 mm.
1:03With the case, though, they’re almost
1:05the same thickness. In fact, a good
1:07chunk of the thickness can be attributed
1:09to this raised camera island here.
1:11Without it, it’s going to be even a lot
1:13thinner. It’s so thin, it doesn’t even
1:14feel like you’re using a foldable
1:16smartphone. Well, that’s up until you
1:18open up the main display, because this
1:20is a foldable after all. It only weighs
1:23215 g. also meaning it’s not that heavy.
1:27As mentioned before, this also helps it
1:29sit in our pockets a lot better. No big
1:31bulge to be seen, especially if you’re
1:32wearing tight pants or shorts. With the
1:34metal frame and glass back panel, it
1:36feels very premium, too. Despite the
1:38slimmer design, there’s no change to the
1:39aesthetics of the phone. One look and
1:41you can quickly tell this is a Samsung.
1:44The triple rear camera is still located
1:46at the upper left corner, but this one
1:48does come with an island, which is no
1:50longer found on the S25 Ultra. One thing
1:52I did notice is that the hinges feel
1:54very sturdy. So much so that I had a
1:57hard time opening it as compared to the
1:59Galaxy Zfold 6 we tried out last year.
2:01Despite being this thin, the Galaxy
2:03ZFold 7 still comes with a USBC port at
2:05the bottom and even a dual SIM card slot
2:07at the top. It also comes with dual
2:08stereo speakers like before. The power
2:10button, which doubles as a fingerprint
2:12scanner, is a lot thinner than before,
2:13too. Despite that, it didn’t have a hard
2:16time reading my fingerprints even if it
2:18was unfolded. Overall, we like how
2:20Samsung designed the Galaxy ZFold 7 with
2:22how thin it is right now. Since it’s
2:24also a bit longer and wider, I didn’t
2:27even need to use the main display that
2:29often, and I could do a lot more with
2:31the cover screen. The cover screen of
2:33the Samsung Galaxy Zfold 7 now measures
2:366.5 in. It’s not a big jump as compared
2:39to the Galaxy Zfold 6, 6.3 in, but those
2:432 in make a difference. As mentioned
2:46earlier, I no longer find myself opening
2:48up the main screen to browse social
2:49media or even the internet. I also like
2:51the nice thin borders and even borders
2:54all around. You can do almost everything
2:55on the cover screen already. It does
2:57have a very wide aspect ratio of 21×9
2:59though, similar to widescreen videos.
3:01And with that, some apps might look a
3:04bit off, especially games. The same can
3:06be said when you’re watching videos on
3:07their cover screen because you do get
3:09black bars on the side. But of course,
3:10this is a foldable smartphone after all.
3:12Although you will be using the main
3:15screen as well when watching videos or
3:18playing games. Of course, it’s best done
3:20on the 8 in main display. Both the cover
3:22screen and main display feature an LTPO
3:24AMOLED panel with 120 Hz refresh rate.
3:27This means there’s no visual change when
3:28you switch screens. Apart from the
3:30larger size, but aside from the size
3:32increase, a major improvement Samsung
3:34made to the main display is the crease.
3:36It’s barely visible anymore. The crease
3:39has always been an issue for almost any
3:40foldable device, but on the Galaxy ZFold
3:437, you can barely notice it 90% of the
3:45time. Most of the time when you’re using
3:46the main display, you won’t even notice
3:48that the crease is there. It’s only when
3:50you purposely try to look for it will
3:52you notice it. With that, you can very
3:53much enjoy binge watching videos on the
3:55Galaxy ZFold 7 for long periods of
3:57times. But how long will this crease
3:59hold up in the future? Well, only time
4:01will tell. Similar to older Galaxy Zfold
4:03models, you can set it up folded where
4:05in half the screen displays the video
4:07with the other half as the controller.
4:08It works best if you wanted to lay it
4:10down for watching videos with the group.
4:12As for the speakers though, the quality
4:14isn’t as great as I expected them to be.
4:16They are loud, but it lacks a bit of
4:17quality and the sound stage isn’t that
4:19good. I suspect it has something to do
4:21with the body being a lot thinner than
4:23before. With that, it’s best to watch
4:25videos with your favorite pair of
4:26Bluetooth headphones. Moving on to the
4:28cameras, the Galaxy Zfold 6 didn’t
4:31really have the best cameras in the
4:33Samsung lineup, especially as compared
4:36to the S24 Ultra of that time. But on
4:38the Samsung Galaxy Zfold 7, Samsung has
4:41addressed that completely. That’s
4:43because it now features a new 200
4:46megapixel main shooter. The rest of the
4:48cameras, though, they’re pretty much
4:50unchanged from before. You get a 10
4:51megapixel telephoto and a 12ap ultra
4:54wide. When taking photos, you now have
4:56the option to shoot in 12 megapixel, 50
4:58megapixel, or even 200 megapixel mode.
5:00At 50 megapixel and 200 megapixel modes,
5:02you don’t have access to zoom, but at
5:04least maximizes the camera to its full
5:06potential. As for the results, well,
5:08I’ll let the photos speak for
5:10themselves. They’re amazing in almost
5:11all kinds of lighting conditions, even
5:13in low light. There’s no blown out
5:14highlights or grainy parts when you’re
5:16shooting in dark environments. Best of
5:18all, you have great sharpness and
5:19contrast all around. It’s very much
5:21similar to the images we were able to
5:23capture on the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s main
5:25camera. And even at two time zoom, the
5:27image quality is retained. It’s not
5:29until you go beyond three times zoom
5:30will there be a noticeable drop in
5:32quality. And the same goes for the
5:34ultrawide. With that, I highly recommend
5:35staying in 1x or even 2x zoom at most
5:38when you’re using the camera of the
5:39Galaxy Zfold 7. For selfies, there are
5:42two front-facing cameras, a 10 megapixel
5:44camera on the main screen and another 10
5:46megapixel on the cover screen. But
5:48honestly, you can just use the 200 MP
5:50main rear camera to take your selfies
5:52for you. Just turn on the cover screen
5:54while taking photos to show the subject
5:56or you what they look like to take the
5:58perfect selfie. When it comes to video,
6:00it’s a similar story. The rear cameras
6:02are capable of shooting at a maximum of
6:038K at 30fps. There is an ultra steady
6:06mode, but it only works at 4K at 60fps
6:09max. But if you have slightly steady
6:11hands, you can work around with it even
6:14without ultra steady mode turned on. And
6:16I doubt you’ll be using 8K30 all the
6:18time because it takes up a lot of space.
6:20And as for the video, well, you can
6:22check them out on screen right now.
6:27[Music]
6:34[Music]
6:58Overall, the upgrade with the main
7:00camera on the Galaxy ZFold 7 has made it
7:03a lot more capable when taking photos
7:05and videos. It’s still not at par with
7:07the S25 Ultra, but you’re halfway there
7:10with the 200 megapixel main shooter.
7:12Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy ZFold
7:147 packs the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite
7:17chipset. Our review unit comes with 12
7:18GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, which
7:22is the base model for reference, but you
7:24can get it up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB
7:27of storage. From our experience, 256 GB
7:30isn’t really enough for this phone,
7:31especially for our use case. And if
7:34you’re going to be downloading a lot of
7:35apps, which you will be with a foldable
7:38smartphone like this, it’s not enough.
7:40And I highly recommend you get the 512
7:42GB variant at the very least. Given how
7:44capable the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset
7:46is, we had no doubts this is going to be
7:49a capable phone. It ran almost all the
7:51apps we could think of for productivity
7:53and gaming really well. When it comes to
7:55games, it ran Genjin Impact and Zenless
7:57Zone Zero on Max graphics without any
7:59issues. The same could be said for
8:00lighter titles like Blue Archive and
8:02Mobile Legends. As you can see from the
8:04benchmark scores on screen right now,
8:06the Samsung Galaxy ZFold 7 scored really
8:08high on Antudu and the other benchmarks
8:10we ran. But again, that’s to be expected
8:12as we saw from the S25 Ultra, which runs
8:15the same chipset. However, there is the
8:17issue of heat. The Galaxy Zfold 7 heats
8:20up quite fast, and I’m pretty sure it
8:22has something to do with how thin the
8:24phone is. It’s not that big of a deal,
8:26but can be concerning in the long run if
8:29it heats up consistently. Out of the
8:30box, Samsung Galaxy ZFold 7 runs on 1 UI
8:348, which is based on Android 16. It’s
8:36essentially an upgraded version of One
8:38UI 7, which we’ve all come to love.
8:41Featuring new and improved AI features,
8:42the UI feels very much the same as
8:44before with some slice of life
8:46improvement. So, if you’re a Samsung
8:47user, you will definitely enjoy using 1
8:50UI 8. When it comes to the AI features,
8:52Google Gemini’s presence can be felt a
8:54lot more and runs on both displays
8:56without issues. There’s better
8:58integration too, making it a lot more
8:59practical to use. But mind you, some of
9:01these features are specific for the Fold
9:047. Of course, you still have AI eraser
9:06in the gallery and even audio eraser.
9:08And as the name suggests, the AI eraser
9:10can delete whatever you want in this
9:12gallery. And audio eraser deletes
9:14unwanted audio, whether it’s voice line
9:16or noise, from your video clips. This
9:19being a foldable, 1 UI8 also has a few
9:21new tricks up its sleeve for this
9:23foldable phone. Other new upgrades
9:25include better security features and an
9:27improved quick share. Other than those,
9:29it’s very much a carryover from
9:30everything we’ve liked about 1 UI7. Best
9:33of all, there’s no bloatware, too. If
9:35you want to know more, we’ll be doing a
9:36deep dive on 1 UI8 in a future video, so
9:39stay tuned for that. One thing that
9:41Samsung didn’t change on the Galaxy
9:43ZFold 7, though, is the battery life. It
9:45still packs a 4,400 milliamp hour
9:47battery pack, which isn’t exactly that
9:50big. With that, we didn’t really expect
9:51any improvements in terms of battery
9:53life. After just 30 minutes playing
9:55Genchin Impact, the battery already
9:57dropped from 100 to 87%. For reference,
9:59this was played on the main display.
10:01Even when I’m out and about and I’m not
10:03really using the phone that often, there
10:05was still some battery drain. And the
10:07benchmarks showed a similar result.
10:13Overall, we really like what Samsung
10:15made to the Galaxy ZFold 7. It addresses
10:18most of the issues we had with the
10:20previous ZFold series, such as the
10:22lackluster camera and even the thick
10:24body. On the Galaxy ZFold 7, the camera
10:26is a lot more capable. It slimmer size
10:28and bigger cover screen means you don’t
10:30have to open up the main display that
10:31often either. Not to mention, you have
10:33the new features of One UI8. It’s still
10:35far from perfect with its lackluster
10:37battery life and the audio quality, but
10:40it’s a step in the right direction for
10:42Samsung. However, all of that upgrades
10:44come with a high price. Not that the
10:47ZFold 6 or the ZFold 5 were any cheaper.
10:50As mentioned earlier, the Samsung Galaxy
10:52Zfold 7 starts at 112,990 pes for the 12
10:56+ 256 GB variant, similar to the one we
10:59have here. If you want the 12 + 512 GB
11:02variant, that one will retail for
11:05120,990 pesos. As for the topsp spec 16
11:08GB plus 1 TB variant, that will set you
11:11back 140,990
11:13pesos, which is a lot of money. That’s a
11:15lot of money for a smartphone, no doubt.
11:17And I’m sure you can get a bunch of
11:19discounts on the Samsung website if you
11:20pre-order or whatn not. But still, for
11:22the same price of the Galaxy ZFold 7,
11:24you can already get the 1 TB variant of
11:27the S25 Ultra. But then again, that one
11:30doesn’t come with a foldable screen like
11:32this one. And of course, if you want to
11:35be productive and you want the style
11:37factor, you can’t go wrong with the
11:40Samsung Galaxy Zfold 7. But what do you
11:42guys think of the new Samsung Galaxy
11:44Zfold 7? Is it something you’d cop or
11:48would you get a different foldable?
11:50Maybe the Flip 7. Whatever the case,
11:52share your thoughts in the comment
