All Windows Phone 7 users will be happy to know that their handsets will be able to upgrade to Windows Phone 8 (codenamed Apollo) when it gets released.
Users, even the early adopters, won’t have to worry about which handset will get the update as long as it’s running Windows Phone 7, it will definitely receive Apollo. Android should learn a thing or two from Windows Phone about doing upgrades.
The information came from a Microsoft spokesman, Nuno Silva, during an interview by Zwame.
Q: In terms of devices, who today have one is it expectable that…
Silva: What Microsoft said/stated and what I’m allowed to tell you is that all actual devices will get upgrade to the next major version of Windows Phone (we´re talking about Apollo)
Q: When you say actual devices. Are all that came out to market?
Silva: Are all that came out. Since the first generation that were bought. The LGs and SAMSUNGs.. OMNIA 7 which were the first devices with Windows Phone reaching the market.
This will come as a plus for handset manufacturers opting for the Windows Phone OS as they won’t have to worry about platform fragmentation, a problem that has been bothering Android for quite some time now. Good job Microsoft! Now don’t keep us waiting for Apollo much longer.
Update: This story has been reverted due to new and conflicting information about WP7 handsets actually getting the updates. – Yuga

showbiz says:
It may be late post but it is still good news. Nice move microsoft, to have all wp7 to received an update, unlike android phones whenever there is an update some android owners are left behind.
juicyjor says:
tama, medyo outdated na. may mga feedback na hindi totoo ung sinabi ni Nuno.
marvin says:
You should not post any unverified information. Microsoft is yet to officially announce their plans about the existing phones. In short Nuno isjst trolling you. Read Zdnet and The Verge’s report about the issue.

flip says:
news is late. don’t bash the author.
yun sinabi naman sa verge “Now, a trusted source close to Microsoft tells us that is absolutely not the case, that instead there will be no upgrade path from Mango to Apollo.” is also unverified.
we can say it in a nicer way…

the purpose naman cguro ng topic nato is to check sa discussion ng mga tao concerning this… dahil kung binasa nyo ng ma igi yung mga nabasa nyo sa ibang site hindi rin naman sure yun eh… kumbaga “rumors”… please naman respect nyo yung writer… daming nag mamagaling parang kau gumawa ng software ng windows ah… hindi pa sure yun and lets hope na tama tong topic na to para hindi kawawa yung mga bumili ng WP7.
galona says:
Th “writer” basically just rewrites press releases or articles from other websites. The fact that he failed to give the most recent information available shows poor research on his part.
emansky says:
wow, napakademanding ng mga tao dito.. if you got the news ahead you dont need to tell the writer na late. not everyone gets the news agad. it’s not who cam first or what now. it’s about getting informed.

Sabi nang Verge hinde daw, sabi ng Engadget oo daw. Kelangan talaga may official statement na from MS. Sa tingen ko ma-u-upgrade ko HTC Radar ko kase 1ghz sya tulad, eh mga netbook na pwede sa windows 8, di nagkakalayo specs.
kim says:
lol, makikicopy na nga ng article sa iba mali mali pa si nuno, haha, magresearch muna siya at iverify ang news coming other publication. at dapat may nakaindicate na “RUMOR” or baka masyado siyang naging excited kaya Publish agad to gain someorganic traffics from searchers.
ic3 says:
Nuno is already retracting his earlier statement:
“I mistakenly confused app compatibility with phone updateability, which caused the rumors we saw yesterday. I did not intend to give the impression I was offering new guidance on any products under development or their upgradeability.”

Louie says:
Dear readers,
Thank you all for the feedback. As you can see, the story has been reverted due to conflicting information. Rest assured that it’s not in my intention to cause confusion. I apologize if it did.
Regarding the news, I do hope that existing WP7 handsets get the Apollo update. If it doesn’t, then it seems like Microsoft is shooting itself on the foot. I almost availed the Lumia 800 yesterday but backed out after getting contradicting info about the update. What’s the reason for getting a WP7 handset when WP8 is just around the corner but won’t get it? Just a thought. But then we just have to wait for an official statement from Microsoft.
For those who expressed their sentiments in a thoughtful, assertive, polite, and intelligent way, I thank you so much and I appreciate your efforts. This will help me become a better writer.
For those who chose a more hostile way of expressing their opinions, thank you as well. But then I don’t see how things (or you) will progress by sharing hate around here.
Again, thank you for your thoughts and opinions. Special thanks to ic3 for updating us regarding Nuno Silva correcting his earlier statement.
Happy Friday everyone!
-Louie

Unquestionably believe that which you said. Your favorite justification appeared to be on
the web the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get annoyed while people think
about worries that they plainly don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people could take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
