Sony has officially started rolling out Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to its Xperia Z2, Z3 and Z3 Compact handsets. However, Xperia Blog is reporting that only select variants are currently set to receive the update via OTA. These are the Xperia Z2 D6503, Xperia Z3 D6603, and Xperia Z3 Compact D5803 version.
This update includes the best features of Android Marshmallow like Google Now on Tap, doze mode and improved permissions, along with the February Android security patches. It also comes with a refreshed Camera 2.0.0, an app that exists in the Xperia Z5 that includes the ability to swipe between camera modes like video or manual as well as real-time adjustment sliders for brightness and other settings.
The update is being pushed out in phases and for those who have not yet received the OTA update can look for it in the settings. Just go to Settings – About Device – Software Update, or force update it manually via Sony PC Companion.
