Samsung may be on its way to make Android KitKat available for an entry-level device. It’s been reported that they shipped a smartphone (model SM-G350E) to India for testing purposes. It runs the latest OS and has 8GB of internal storage space, and will also be positioned at an affordable price of $103 or Php4,500.
Along with a friendly price tag, it comes with the following specs:
4.3-inch display
1.2GHz dual-core processor
1GB RAM
8GB internal storage
5MP rear camera with autofocus
HD video recording
VGA front camera
Dual-SIM capable
Android 4.4 KitKat
If you’d notice, the specs above kind of resembles the specs of the entry-level Motorola Moto E – right from its 4.3-inch display, dual-core processor, RAM, pixel count of camera, OS, down to the price (Moto E is expected to arrive for $105). They are clearly aiming to not make Motorola get all the attention when it comes to entry-level devices with decent specs.
Samsung’s upcoming smartphone could very well be the most affordable handset that runs on Android KitKat right out of the box with its $103 price tag
Watch out, Motorola!
