Cat S60: first phone with a FLIR thermal camera

Cat has announced their new smartphone and this time, it’s got something more than a rugged body — it can see heat signatures.

The Cat S60 has all the features of a usual Cat handset with a military spec body but with a modern Android smartphone inside. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. It’s got a 4.7-inch HD display with wet finger and glove support. We have a 13-megapixel rear camera w/ dual-LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera plus a large 3800mAh battery. Good news is that the S60 will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

And the main star of the S60 is its built-in FLIR thermal imaging camera with just sits alongside the main rear camera. With this, the smartphone is aimed for extreme purposes like search and rescue missions, and other applications.

Cat S60 specifications:
4.7-inch 720p HD display, 500nits of brightness, wet and glove support
Gorilla Glass 4
Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor
32GB expandable storage
13-megapixel rear camera w/ dual-LED flash
5-megapixel front-facing camera
MIL Spec 810G
FLIR thermal imaging camera
Android 6.0 Marshmallow

The Cat S60 will go sale by the end of May in the US for $599 or roughly Php28,500 before taxes.
