China partly blocks WhatsApp messages

It seems like China’s quest to block messaging services are going pretty outrageous. Recently, WhatsApp, a messaging app used worldwide, is partly banned in the said country and its users reported that they were unable to send videos and photos, including text-based messages.

An anonymous person, who refused to name himself, said that they are not authorized to speak on the record about the disruption and he also added that the block against WhatsApp stemmed with the government.

If WhatsApp goes permantly blocked, it would add on the list of banned sites that only grows longer by day in China. Also, it would be a advantage for Weibo, a Chinese-owned messaging app, to be a popular option.
