Had lunch with guys from Samsung Philippines last Tuesday as they wanted to touch base and expressed interest in sponsoring future blog events.
During our discussions, I expressed my concern about how software updates for their phones. I then added that the Windows Mobile 6 upgrade for my Blackjack (Samsung SGH i600) hasn’t reached the Philippines yet and pointed to a site where only European countries are supported with free updates from WM5. And to the one who kept correcting me that the SGH i600 is not a Blackjack as opposed to the i607, quit it — Samsung says the i600 series IS the Blackjack.
Anyway, to make the long story short, I got confirmation that the free upgrade to Windows Mobile 6 is available locally. All I need is to bring the unit to their service center and have it flushed with the new mobile OS.
Problem though is that all data will be wiped out during the update and Samsung doesn’t have a comprehensive backup facility. Will have to do it manually.

Good day, I tried calling their service center but they said that upgrade to WinMo 6 is not yet available, I asked them if they could install it they said as soon as the upgrade is available they will cater to my needs. So I don’t know if it is really possible to do it in their service center.
