After months of speculation and heavy anticipation, you can now use Google Pay in your Google Wallet in the Philippines

This we discovered just now by trying to add one of our local VISA cards in Google Google Wallet. After a few steps and an OTP verification, we managed to add our RCBC VISA card.
Your Google Wallet will then ask you which service you want to use by default and it includes your credit card, GCash, UnionBank, Samsung Pay, etc but we still have to verify if all of these will actually work with local POS.

To use Google Pay, your smartphone must have NFC supported.
More details on this as we explore the Google Pay services available in the Philippines. Will update this article when we get more info.
Update: Here’s the list of supported banks and credit cards.
