We managed to check out the Happy Mobile Aspire yesterday, and here are our initial impressions with the device announced just last month.
The Aspire is a 5.5-inch smartphone with aluminum trims around its sides. With such a size, the device feels quite hefty to hold with one hand. Capacitive keys are also present at the device, which makes the screen-to-body ratio a bit lower.
The aluminum sides have black band strips all over, and this helps the phone acquire better signal reception. It’s also susceptible to smudges and scratches, as seen above. To give you an idea of where’s which, the screen, front cam, call speaker and capacitive keys are at the front, the volume rockers and power/lock button are on opposite sides at left and right, respectively.
The 3.5mm jack is at the top, while the microphone and the microUSB port sits at the bottom. At the back, we have the 13MP rear camera with the dual-tone LED flash and the loudspeaker beneath it. The camera is protruding a bit from the black matte polycarbonate back plate, and is accented by chrome embellishments.
The display seems okay for a 5.5-inch display. The colors and contrasts were good and the screen is really bright. It can also be viewed on any angle without any problems. The images presents themselves to be crisp despite the 720p HD resolution crammed into the device.
We also managed to run an initial benchmark on the unit, and here’s what we got. Do take note that the phone was in use for a long time before we did a benchmark, so the value may vary when we have a proper unit for review.

i have a myphone ocean pro. antutu score is 20435. a score close to 30000 is not surprising for an octacore smartphone. but a score of 17202 is a score one gets for quadcores. so this is a score you would rate as poor for an octacore. check the prices of cloudfone excite 501o and cloudfone 551q. see also firefly mobile intense 64 lte.
NotaSheep says:
Should be 4999! Happy Mobile doesn’t have a reputation :P the only reputation they are about to receive is the “Cherry Twin” rep for me :P
snowythen says:
for an Octa-core with 2GB RAM, something inside is definitely wacko for it to score only 17k in antutu.
Dem Pervandos Sangines says:
woah. how come 17k ung antutu? eh most octacores+ 1gb ram ung score 26k up. eh e2 2gb ram na nga. anyare?
