Design and Display

Design-wise, one wouldn’t be able to distinguish these three devices from each other as they all sport almost similar screen sizes, the smallest being the Honor 50 with a 6.57-inch screen and the largest being the Honor 50 SE at 6.78-inch.

When it comes to the display, the Honor 50 and 50 Pro both use OLED panels, while the Honor 50 SE has LCD. All Honor smartphones share the same 120Hz refresh rate, but the Honor 50 SE has a lower touch sampling rate at 240Hz while the Honor 50 and 50 Pro have a higher 300Hz touch sample rate.

You might also notice the hole punch for the selfie cameras, especially on the Honor 50 Pro with its dual front cameras placed on the upper left of the display. The Honor 50 and 50 SE, on the other hand, have their cameras placed in the middle. In addition, the Honor 50 and 50 Pro share the same colors while the Honor 50 SE has distinct Black, Blue, and Silver color options.

CPU and GPU

When we look at what’s under the hood, the Honor 50 and Honor 50 Pro is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778 5G and Adreno 642L GPU which got an AnTuTu score of 552,904 according to Kimovil, while the Honor 50 SE is equipped with the new MediaTek Dimensity 900 CPU and Mali G68 GPU that got a score of rated at 476,462. This suggests that the Honor 50 and Honor 50 Pro can provide better performance.

RAM and Storage

All three smartphones are equipped with 8GB of RAM. The Honor 50 and Honor 50 SE come in 128GB and 256GB of storage, while the Honor 50 Pro is only available in 256GB. Note that none of these smartphones support a dedicated microSD card for extra storage.

Cameras

The Honor 50 and Honor 50 Pro are equipped with the same 108MP (main), 8MP (wide), 2MP (depth), 2MP (macro) rear-cameras, and 32MP front camera. The Pro model has a different front camera setup though by sporting a 12MP ultra-wide as its secondary. On the other hand, the Honor 50 SE has the same triple-rear cameras minus the dedicated depth camera. For selfies, it has a 16MP shooter.

Other features

When it comes to its features, all models support Dual-5G, WiFi 6, NFC, USB Type-C, and the same operating system. However, the Honor 50 SE is slightly different due to its Bluetooth 5.1 and side-mounted fingerprint scanner, while the other two sport an updated Bluetooth 5.2 and in-display fingerprint scanner.

Battery

Looking at the battery capacities, the Honor 50 holds the highest battery at 4,300mAh while the Honor 50 Pro and Honor 50 SE sit at 4,000mAh. In terms of charging rate, the Pro has an upgraded charging rate of 100W, while the other two have a charging rate of 66W.

We don’t have info yet about its arrival in the Philippines, but when it does, we can expect it to be priced accordingly — the Honor 50 SE is the most affordable offering, the Honor 50 Pro is the most expensive, while the Honor 50 sits in the middle.

If you want the basic features but don’t want to spend much, you can opt for the Honor 50 SE. If you want to go all out with the additional front camera and the faster 100W charging rate you can purchase the Honor 50 Pro. But, if you’re looking for something in the middle, the vanilla Honor 50 is the right choice.
