HP’s acquisition of Palm has finally making some progress with the computer giant today announcing the new HP Veer and the HP Pre 3.
The HP Pre 3 is the successor to the Palm Pre 2, just before the acquisition.
HP Pre 3Adobe Flash 10.1 and can do WiFi tethering with expected release in 2nd quarter of 2011. Most interesting is that the the phone supports dual mode — HSDPA and EV-DO chips on-board.
The HP Veer is like the baby brother of the Pre3 with a 2.6-inch capacitive screen running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7230 800MHz processor. Aside from the 8GB internal storage, the rest of the specs are very similar to the HP Pre3.

I want to like it, I really do. But in the face of the Atrix and dual core super duper AMOLED displays on 4″+ screens, this seems like a big dud. Something I could only use for a 2nd phone, at best.
At least its better than a 4th phone that my Pre is currently being used as.
I really like webos, its to bad both Palm and, now, HP are killing it. Maybe Nokia can rid ein and save the day?
iPimp says:
If only it had apps, I’d replace my iPhone with the Veer
raul barrios says:
How much would these cost? Any guesses?

HP is another competitor, let’s see how they enhance the product that are in the market this days. http://ritratos.blogspot.com/

Heavy ang specification… Sana android na lang yan… marami pang apps na available…
Messie says:
Could have wanted it except for the OS and the looks. With a high-end price, this should look much better. First impression wise, it looks like a low-end to medium-end touchscreen phone.
Walang oooooooooh ahhhhhhh factor.
Buti pa LG, astig gumawa ng phone design =)

Sir Abe, comment lang po sa ‘Most interetsing is that the the phone supports dual mode — HSDPA and EV-DO chips on-board.” HSDPA and EV-DO chips are totally different and not available on Pre 3 at the same time. It is either of the two but not both. HSDPA is used in GSM networks while EV-DO radios are used in CDMA networks.
moi2x says:
HSPA and EVDO are not generally defined as chipsets,, these are Radio Frequencies on the phone similar to 3G, Edge and UMTS ..
HSPA might possibly work here in the RP since we have GSM networks .. but EVDO wont work here.. so if ur lucky enough to get one.. make sure it runs On GSM ..
But HSPA and EVDO cant be together in one device..
adam says:
How much is the price kaya, Web OS or Android.
leemar says:
webOS is the best OS so far. sana meron na dto sa pinas yan. ang palm pre kasi di umabot ng pinas.
sana ngayon with HP makarating na dto kahit as unlock units.
AbeG says:
I think this one will work for those who wanted a powerful and functional phone which is very pocketable.
Those who already owned an iPod or PSP etc., and just wanted a phone for call, email, messaging and web browing.
Sana nga mapansin naman ng HP ang Asian market.
21 says:
What made android special is because of the APPS made for it.
WebOS looks promising, it has flash 10.1 which mid range droid smartphones doesn’t even have. And it loads full website.
The only thing bothers me is the pricing, HP veer is so small for a smartphone…
Sr. Yuga , how much is d hP pre 3? any guess?
Robert says:
my hp pre 3 arrived last week and have been using the touch to share function with my hp touchpad. Plus my hp touchpad can now make and receive calls and texts because of my hp pre 3
