Huawei P20 and P20 Pro tops DxOMark rankings

DxOMark has just released their ratings on the newly announced Huawei P20 and P20 Pro flagship devices, giving us an idea of how great these Leica-branded cameras perform.

First up is the Huawei P20 Pro, which got an overall score of 109. With its 40MP RGB primary, 20MP monochrome secondary, and 8MP RGB telephoto, it received a Photo score of 114 points. DxOMark says that the “large sensor in the main camera combined with the B&W sensor allows for excellent low-light performance and class-leading dynamic range; the dedicated 80mm equivalent tele-lens in combination with the high-resolution monochrome chip, delivers the best zoom performance we’ve seen on a smartphone to date.” As for the video, it got a score of 98 points, “thanks to class-leading image stabilization, a good autofocus, and very low noise levels.”

Next is the Huawei P20 with an overall score of 102. Thanks to its dual-rear camera system consisting of a 12MP RGB and 20MP monochrome, it got a Photo score of 107 points as it was able to deliver “good detail and dynamic range in all conditions, and both bokeh simulation and the zoom feature perform on a high level.” As for the video, it got a score of 94, “boasting a very efficient stabilization system, a precise autofocus, and decent recording of detail in all conditions.”

Given the results, the Huawei P20 Pro puts it in the top spot, followed by the Huawei P20, Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus (99), Google Pixel 2 (98), and Apple iPhone X (97).
