Looks like we’re no longer going to see new Infinix smartphones in the Philippines as the company has decided to stop selling them due to financial issues.
Infinix’s Brand Manager, Zaks Yu, announced in a Facebook group the company’s decision to stop selling smartphones because of low commission and that they have “lost too much money”. The company will still launch the Infinix Note 5 and continue after-sales service for their existing devices. Read the full post below.
Yu also announced his new position as SEA Smart Accessory Department Sales Manager. As for the new direction, the Infinix brand will still exist in the country but will now focus on accessories like power banks, smartwatches, headsets, and even electric toothbrushes.
Hong Kong-based Infinix, which has established its popularity in Africa, started its Philippine operations back in 2015 and has focused on selling its smartphones through online channels such as Lazada and Shopee.
YugaTech.com is the largest and longest-running technology site in the Philippines. Originally established in October 2002, the site was transformed into a full-fledged technology platform in 2005.
