Jolla smartphone with Sailfish OS officially launched

Jolla (pronounced Yol-la), the first smartphone to run the Sailfish OS has been officially launched in Finland.

The Jolla smartphone sports a 4.5-inch IPS display with qHD resolution or equal to 245ppi, Gorilla Glass 2, an 8 megapixel rear camera, 16GB of internal storage, and LTE connectivity.

Powering the device is a 1.4GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, 1GB of RAM, and Sailfish OS beta which will get frequent system updates via OTA.

The Jolla smartphone comes in 9 color options and has a price tag of 399 Euros or almost Php24,000USD 409INR 34,670EUR 390CNY 2,978. International availability is yet to be announced.

I’ll happily buy one :) A refreshing user-experience from the current OS’es + the fun of running Android apps. Sana lang maraming developer ang gumamit pa rin ng native sailfish code to develop apps para optimized ung overall experience. Nonetheless Android-support is a welcome sign of compatibility. Will wait for it to come to HK then shipped here, I don’t think many filipinos will like this as much as I do. :)

This thing looks like a Nokia Lumia. That’s not a bad thing, considering Jolla’s founders are ex-Nokia employees. Would love to see the 1020 running on Sailfish (and still have the awesome software that makes it currently the BEST cameraphone in the world.)
