MediaTek has launched their latest mobile processor for the Helio P series designed for smartphones with dual-cameras – the Helio P25.

The Helio P25 is what MediaTek considers as the premium performance chip for dual-camera smartphones. It features 16nm octa-core processing with MediaTek Imagiq Image Signal Processor (ISP) technology as well as support for dual-camera effects like shallow depth-of-field.

MediaTek Helio P25 12bit Dual ISP capabilities:
• Pioneering Resolution: Up to 24MP single camera or 13MP+13MP dual camera
• Dual Camera-optimized: Color + Mono de-noise and real-time shallow DoF bokeh
• High Dynamic Range: Video HDR with full preview
• High Performance Auto Exposure: Turbo 3A to accelerate AE convergence speed by 30-55%

Aside from dual-camera imaging support, the Helio P25 offers up to 25% better power efficiency, has an octa-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor clocked at up to 2.5GHz, ARM Mali-T880 dual GPU clocked at up to 900MHz, enhanced uploads in Cat.6 LTE (up to 64QAM uplink for LTE-TDD mode), and support for 6GB LPDDR4x RAM.

Smartphones powered by MediaTek Helio P25 are expected to be on the market in Q1 2017.
