Listen to article

MediaTek has unveiled the Dimensity 9500s, a powerful new chip aimed at sub-flagship smartphones, sitting just below the top-tier Dimensity 9500. The first device to use the chip will be the Redmi Turbo 5 Max, which reportedly scored 3,612,095 points on AnTuTu in lab tests.

Built on TSMC’s 3nm process, the chip features a flagship-style CPU layout, one Cortex-X925 core at 3.73GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores at 3.30GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores at 2GHz, totaling over 29 billion transistors.

The processor supports super memory compression, boosting app launch speeds by up to 44%, and includes a 19MB CPU cache plus 10MB system cache. Graphics are handled by a flagship-grade Immortalis-G925 GPU with ray-tracing support, while on-device AI handles tasks without needing the cloud.

Camera and video features include 8K HDR recording with Dolby Vision, fast autofocus, and a semantic segmentation engine for smarter image processing. Connectivity is strong with a 5G Release 17 modem (up to 7Gbps), Wi-Fi 7 (6.5Gbps), and long-range Bluetooth connections up to 5 km.
