MWC ‘25: Infinix unveils a concept phone that charges via solar power

Listen to article

At MWC 2025, Infinix unveiled a new technology use solar power for charging a smartphone.

The brand dubs this SolarEnergy-Reserving Technology which uses perovskite photovoltaic cells. Infinix combines it with AI-driven algorithms to capture and store solar energy directly from the case to the prototype phone.

Currently, the case can deliver power at 2W to the phone through discreet contact points. This setup works even in low-light conditions, ideally providing users with a backup power source.

Infinix also introduced “Sunflower” Wireless Charging Technology, which adjusts the charging path based on lighting and device position, ensuring efficient power transfer within a 3-meter range.

Additionally, Infinix showcased E-Color Shift 2.0 technology, designed to make phone customization more dynamic.

Using e-ink, the technology allows the phone’s back panel to change colors and patterns in response to environmental factors like weather or the phone’s wallpaper.

Users can choose from six patterns and six colors, creating up to 30 different combinations. With AI support, the back cover adapts to incoming calls, messages, and even charging status.
