Realme has finally launched in the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro in the Philippines. The latter is the most powerful of the two a 6.3-inch screen, Snapdragon 712 chipset, up to 128GB of storage, and quad-rear cameras. There’s another mid-range smartphone in the market though that shares some of the specs at the same price tag, the Xiaomi Mi A3. Which smartphone can offer you the best hardware for the budget? Looking at the specs, the Realme 5 Pro has plenty of advantages over the Xiaomi Mi A3. Starting with the display, the Realme 5 Pro has a larger screen size, higher resolution, and an IPS panel for natural colors. However, the Mi A3 has a newer Gorilla Glass 5 and a Super AMOLED panel for punchier colors and deeper blacks.
Camera-wise, the Realme 5 Pro has four rear cameras while the Mi A3 has three. The two almost have the same camera specs, but the former has a dedicated macro lens. If you like shooting tiny objects, the Realme 5 Pro can help you with that. But when it comes to selfies, the Mi A3 has a higher front camera resolution for sharper images. The Realme 5 Pro also offers 4GB and 8GB of RAM, up to 128GB of storage with a dedicated microSD card slot, and a 4,035mAh battery with a 20W VOOC 3.0 flash charge. The Mi A3 is only offered in 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage with hybrid card slot, and a 4,030mAh battery with 18W Quick Charge 3.0. The Realme 5 Pro wins this part.
As for other features, the Realme 5 Pro has splash resistance, while the Mi A3 has an IR Blaster which is handy if you want to control appliances like the TV or airconditioning. Both phones run on Android 9 Pie, but the Mi A3 is running Android One which we prefer since it’s a stock UI without any bloatware and can receive updates quickly than the Realme 5 Pro.
Lastly, the price. The Realme 5 Pro and Mi A3 with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage are both priced at PHP 11,990. However, the Realme 5 Pro is also offered in 8GB RAM + 128GB configuration for PHP 13,990. If you have a sub-PHP 12K budget, the Realme 5 Pro is the best option if you want a better chipset and quad cameras. But if you want an AMOLED screen and the best Android experience, get the Mi A3.
