Samsung Galaxy E5, Galaxy E7 announced

Listen to article

Two new midrange smartphones were announced by Samsung today — the Galaxy E5 and the Galaxy E7, both of which were also announced in Las Vegas during CES.

Samsung Galaxy E7 specs:
5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD @ 720×1280 pixels, 267ppi
Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 processor
Adreno 306 Graphics
2GB RAM
16GB internal storage
up to 64GB via microSD
3G/HSPA+
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 4.0
13MP AF rear camera, LED flash
5MP front-facing camera
GPS with aGPS support, GLONASS
Android 4.4 Kitkat
Li-Ion 2950mAh battery
151.3 x 77.2 x 7.3mm (dimensions)

The Galaxy E7 has a single SIM or dual-SIM option. We’re hoping the handset has LTE capability since it uses a Snapdragon 410 chip.

Samsung Galaxy E5 specs:
5.0-inch Super AMOLED HD @ 720×1280 pixels, 294ppi
1.2GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 processor
1.5GB RAM
16GB internal storage
up to 64GB via microSD
3G/HSPA+
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 4.0
8MP AF rear camera, LED flash
5MP front-facing camera
GPS with aGPS support, GLONASS
Android 4.4 Kitkat
Li-Ion 2400mAh battery
141.6 x 70.2 x 7.3mm (dimensions)

It is not clear if the Galaxy E5 is also using the same Snapdragon 410 chip as the Galaxy E7 but will update the specs sheet once we get more details.

The E-series is a welcome development because Samsung provides the Super AMOLED screen experience for a mid-range phone.

Competition will always describe it as having a boring design because few people buy their own phone.

SAMSUNG introduced AMOLED technology since the Galaxy S2 while china-phones including the mighty iphone still use LCD up to now.

Hay, disappointed with Samsung this CES 2015.

Same old boring design from Samsung as always. I wonder what the hell those Samsung execs are smoking to approve the release of such abomination like this…

No wonder why Samsung is sinking so fast.
