And just like that Samsung’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S9+, takes the DxOMark crown from the Google Pixel 2. The Google flagship toppled the previous kings, the iPhone 8 Plus and Note8 when it came into the limelight last October. Now, Samsung takes back the spot as the Galaxy S9+ receives an overall DxOMark score of 99.

The Galaxy S9+ received a 104 photo score and 91 video score from DxOMark’s camera tests. According to the well-known image quality review site, Samsung’s latest has the following Pros in photo performance:
- Noise is very well-controlled in all conditions
- Fairly good detail in outdoor and indoor shooting conditions
- Quite fast and accurate autofocus
- Bright and vivid colors in most situations
- Excellent resolution when zooming up to 4x magnification
As for the cons:
- Occasional exposure instabilities
- Noticeable ringing, color fringing, and loss of sharpness in the field
- Slight color casts occasionally noticeable

Video-wise, the S9+ receives the following Pros;
- Brights and vivid colors
- Generally good target exposure and fast exposure transition
- Stable and fast autofocus
- Good noise reduction all conditions
- Good stabilization
and the following Cons:
- Occasional visible stepping during exposure convergence
- Loss of fine details in most conditions
- Visible residual global motion
- Quite strong ringing and moiré
The overall score might be high but that’s thanks to the high photo score rather than video. Then again, this is still a very impressive rating.

Expect the next google pixel phone model to take the crown from s9+
Dx0Mark lost its credibility when it announced google pixel 2 xl as the new king of camera phone when in fact, based on their sample shots, other phones like iphone x has better image reproduction. Their article on google pixel 2 xl is so bias. I dont believe their scores. People at Dxomark need to have their eyes checked.
