Sony confirms IFA 2016 event for possible “Xperia XR” flagship launch

Sony has been reported to confirm their attendance at this year’s IFA event in Berlin. They are expected to hold a press conference on September 1 right before the trade show kicks off the day after. If rumors prove true, we could be seeing the next flagship from the company (following the Xperia X Performance) referred to as the Xperia XR.

We’ve previously reported about GSMArena getting their hands on exclusive images of what seems like the upcoming Xperia then-codenamed as F8331. According to new sources reported by the site, this device will be launched as the Xperia XR. It will allegedly sport a Snapdragon 820 CPU, 5.1 inches display, and could possibly shoot 4K videos using either its rear or front cameras. A USB Type-C port was also mentioned to make its debut.

Below are some of the exclusive photos if you still haven’t seen them yet.

Are you looking forward to seeing more of this device? We’ve been getting mixed feedback from the initial images so far so let us know what you think in the comments section below.
