Sony Xperia 1 VII leak reveals full specs, features ahead of May 13 launch

Sony will unveil a the new Xperia 1 VII on May 13 in Japan. However, just a couple of days ahead of launch event, some promotional materials leaked online revealing some of the phone’s key specs and features.

Based on the leaked materials, the phone comes with three vertically-aligned camera lenses on the top-left corner. It almost looked like a Galaxy phone, except the lenses sit on a protruded module.

The phone has a flat frame and has an additional button on the right, likely a dedicated camera button.

As it stands, the Xperia 1 VII emphasizes enhanced audio capabilities with support for high-resolution sound on both wired and wireless headphones. Yes, the 3.5mm jack and microSD card slot are here to stay.

Sony’s DSEE Ultimate AI technology is designed to enhance the quality of compressed audio files, while LDAC codec support aims to improve wireless streaming.

The front stereo speakers have also been updated to deliver 10% more sound pressure in the low-to-mid frequency range, with components taken from Sony’s Walkman lineup.

For optics, the phone will feature a triple rear setup highlighted by a 48-megapixel main camera with OIS alongside a 12-megapixel ultrawide and another 12-megapixel periscope telephoto lens.

Other revealed specs include a 6.5-inch OLED display with 4K resolution(!) that features Sony’s own BRAVIA technology delivering improved colors. Lastly, the phone packs a 5000mAh battery and will sport three colorways: Green, Purple, and Black.

Again, the unveiling is scheduled on May 13 at 10:AM Manila time via a livestream.
