Since its initial release in 2005, TrackID has been a staple app for every Sony phones. However, the company decided to shut down the music recognition service on September 15.
The reason why? Sony was only able to provide a statement saying that, “all businesses move forwards, and sometimes this means that apps are discontinued”. This also means that your TrackID history after this date will be deleted. Meanwhile, Sony suggests users to use Shazam instead as its top pick for identifying music.
