With the launch of the BlackBerry Classic (also known as BB Q20) in the Philippines yesterday, a lot of people were comparing it to its predecessor the BB Q10 considering that their price difference is almost half. So we’re making a case for the BB Q20 to see if it’s still worth the Php20k retail price.
In terms of physical features, the BlackBerry Classic Q20 has a few improvements like a slightly bigger screen and the return of the optical trackpad.

However, the internal hardware configurations are almost identical except perhaps for the 20% higher battery capacity. Here’s a side by side specs comparison between the Q10 and the Q20.
BlackBerry Q10 | BlackBerry Q20 | |
---|---|---|
Display | 3.1 inches Super AMOLED @ 720 x 720 pixels | 3.5 inches @ 720 x 720 pixels, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 |

Storage | 16GB | 16GB |
microSD Expansion | 32GB | 128GB |
Network | LTE, HSPA+ | LTE, HSPA+ |
WiFi | WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, dual-band, WiFi hotspot | WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, dual-band, WiFi hotspot |
Bluetooth | 4.0 | 4.0 |

Battery | 2,100mAh | 2515mAh |
OS | BlackBerry 10.3.1 | BlackBerry 10.3.1 |
Price | Php9,980 | Php20,990 |
The biggest difference between the two is that the older BlackBerry Q10 has significantly depreciated with a street price of just under Php10k while the newly launched BB Q20 is more than twice that price.
So the question becomes, if people are convinced to get the BB Q20, why spend Php20k when you can get an almost similar device for half the price with the BB Q10.

Question:
what shop is selling the BB Q10 with the price of Php9,980?
MeAgain says:
Q10 is still on OS 10.2
Yuj says:
Mas malaki ba yung keys sa keyboard ng classic keysa sa q10 or bold?
May Bold kasi ako and naliliitan ako sa keypads nya.

Advantages of Classic
– Toolbelt (trackpad)
– Larger screen
– Bigger battery (2515mah)
– Excellent keyboard (no double typing issue)
– Two speaker
– More corporate look, heavier than Q10
– Comes with 10.3.1 OS (10.3.1.1154)
– 3x faster than Bold 9900 (if you still own one)
Just like BlackBerry Passport, Classic is definitely not for everyone. It is not merely created for consumers but also especially for enterprise and business persons, who somehow still sport BlackBerry Bold 9900 as their main email device.
Bold 9900 and Classic shares same passion and style (toolbelt and premium quality) only OS and improve specs are different. You cannot force enterprise users to switch on new and modern OS without learning curve themselves, nor force them to jump ship because BlackBerry is old fashion and dying. Sorry, it’s not that simple as you think.
Here’s a good read and honest review about BlackBerry Classic (damn, I miss the old Yugatech)

Jhay thats a 2 year old tech for blackberry. Yeah it’s classic doesn’t mean you need to bring the classic spec with it. How about a little bump in specS? Like WhY are you going to purchase a device which is not future proof? A high end spec would be a safe bet for those who wants future proofing of their devices. DeFinitely that device doesn’t cost 20k at this point In time. 15k maybe but 20k For dual core snapdragon s4 and adreno 225? Nu uh
