The TECNO PHANTOM Ultimate G Fold has been announced as the world’s first inward-folding tri-fold smartphone. The company’s announcement confirms earlier leaks of its innovative design, capable of folding inwards on both sides.

The phone has a custom-engineered dual-hinge system. It has a smaller waterdrop hinge that folds one side of the display inward with no gaps. There’s also a larger hinge, which folds the remaining section over the top.

It features a self-locking mechanism that secures the device when closed. This helps lessen the inner screen’s exposure to dust. Unfolded, users will find a 9.94-inch display, which is slightly smaller compared to the Mate XT.
The difference is that it’s packed into a thinner frame. Plus, TECNO’s foldable measures 11.49mm thick when folded. This makes it the thinnest tri-fold yet when compared to the Mate XT at 12.8mm.

Similarly though, this tri-fold design offers versatility. It can be used as a standard smartphone when folded, expanded into a tablet, or partially folded to be used as a mini workstation.
On top of that, it even supports multi-angle hovering with a dual-camera system built into the hinge. Interestingly, TECNO also says that this device will pack a battery with ‘over 5,000mAh’.
Aside from these, however, the other internal specs have been kept under wraps. Readers should note that for now, this is still a concept device. However, TECNO is set to showcase the device next year at MWC 2026 in Barcelona.
