Garmin launches Forerunner 70 and 170 in PH, introduces Garmin Pay and announces 2026 Garmin Run

Garmin has expanded its running ecosystem in the Philippines with the launch of the new Forerunner 70 and Forerunner 170 smartwatches, the introduction of Garmin Pay, and the announcement of the 2026 Garmin Run Philippines event.

Designed for runners and fitness enthusiasts, the Forerunner 70 and Forerunner 170 feature AMOLED displays, built-in GPS, wrist-based heart rate monitoring, and support for multiple sports profiles. The smartwatches also integrate with Garmin Coach adaptive training plans and daily suggested workouts to help users manage their training and recovery.

Garmin said the watches include health and wellness features such as sleep tracking, HRV status, and training readiness metrics, providing users with deeper insights into their overall fitness and recovery.

The higher-end Forerunner 170 also supports Garmin Pay, allowing users to make contactless payments directly from their smartwatch. Garmin Pay is now available in the Philippines through partnerships with GoTyme Bank and EastWest Bank, with support for Visa and Mastercard payment networks.

Alongside the new wearables, Garmin also announced the return of the Garmin Run Marathon Series in the Philippines. The local leg of the event will take place on October 25, 2026 at the SM Mall of Asia Complex, featuring 5K, 10K, and 21K race categories. Registration is now open through Garmin’s official website.

According to Garmin, more than 8,000 runners participated in the 2025 edition of the event. The company added that participants in the global Garmin Run Marathon Series may qualify for a limited-edition 18K gold-plated medal by completing 13 races across participating cities by 2027.
