According to latest data from Ookla, Samsung’s Galaxy S24 lineup showed faster 5G speeds than Apple’s iPhone 16 series — in the Philippines at least.
Speedtest Intelligence revealed that the Galaxy S24 family achieved 158.47 Mbps of median 5G download speeds and got the lowest median 5G multi-server latency at 32 ms.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 lineup posted a median 5G download speed of 125.68 Mbps which is a minor improvement over its predecessors. And as for latency, it got 36 ms.
The gap is roughly 33 Mbps in 5G download speeds — which is not mind-blowing by any means, but the data was extracted between September 20 to October 20, 2024.
To recall, the iPhone 16 Series just arrived in the Philippines in October 18th.
In other parts of the world, however — like Europe and in the US — the iPhone 16 lineup offered the strongest 5G performance than the competition. The same goes for nearby Asian countries like Taiwan and India.
It appears that the regional internet service providers (ISPs) also play a key factor in the data. Aside from the Philippines, the Galaxy S24 family also showed faster 5G speeds in Mexico.
