AMD has announced their lineup of new mobile processers called the Ryzen 8040 codenamed Hawk Point.
The AMD Ryzen 8040 processors, which will be the successors to the Phoenix chipsets, consist of the 8040HS APU and its little brother, the 8040U.
The Ryzen 8040 come with a built-in NPU based on AMD’s XDNA, but other than that, they are similar to the Ryzen 7040 such as using a 4nm TSMC process. These latest processors also feature AI capabilities in mobile.
It’s been incredible to see AMD and Microsoft‘s long partnership moving into the next wave of technology, bringing AI innovation to our shared customers,” said Pavan Davuluri, CVP Windows + Devices, Microsoft. “We’re so excited to see Ryzen 8040 Series processor-powered devices come to life in the Windows ecosystem and can’t wait to see what developers and customers do with all of this innovation.”
AMD have also stated that the Ryzen 8040 processors will be launched in the first quarter of 2024.
