Apple files patent for ‘iPod-AirPod’ combo

A patent application filed by has just surfaced, showing what seems to be a device that combines both Apple’s AirPods and their classic or iPod Nano design.

Apple Patent

The application was published by the United States Patent Office last March 30, 2023.  In the application’s abstract, the device was described as “an audio output device case that includes one or more input devices and is in communication with at least one or more audio output devices.”

From this description, it looks to be a music player akin to an iPod Nano with a touch screen on the front.

Apple Patent 2

The diagrams also show that the device serves as a case for themselves. This seemingly removes the need for audio listeners to carry a smartphone or a smartwatch in order to listen to their music.

This looks to be another budding innovation from Apple but it is still in a form of a patent application so it will take a while for this “iPod-AirPod” combo to become reality (if at all).

We do, however, applaud Apple for continuing to innovate especially in the now-very saturated true wireless earphone market.
