Apple is preparing to refresh its MacBook Pro lineup, with industry insider Mark Gurman reporting that mass production of new models powered by the M5 chip is already underway.

According to Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, the next-generation MacBook Pro models are expected to launch between late 2025 and early 2026, with availability no later than March next year. While these units will bring the M5 upgrade, Apple is said to be saving its biggest overhaul for a later release.
By late 2026, Apple is rumored to introduce a major redesign of the MacBook Pro line. Among the reported upgrades are OLED displays with improved contrast, a touchscreen, a thinner chassis, and next-generation M6 chips built on TSMC’s 2nm process, including Pro and Max variants. Apple is also exploring cellular connectivity for Macs, with future models potentially adopting an in-house modem similar to the iPhone’s C1 and C1X chips.
Meanwhile, the MacBook Pro with OLED may also feature a smaller notch and slimmer bezels, further modernizing the design.
Apple has a history of announcing new Macs in October, but both Gurman and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggest the timeline may shift, with an early 2026 release window looking more likely. For reference, Apple launched the M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pros in January 2023, making a similar early-year launch for the M5 series a plausible scenario.
