Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shares early details about the upcoming M5 chip lineup. These chips, expected to begin production in 2025, aim to deliver a significant leap in performance and efficiency.

The Apple M5 series will be built on TSMC’s advanced N3P (3nm) process, promising 5-10% lower power consumption and 5% higher performance compared to the M4 generation.
Advanced Features for Pro, Max, and Ultra Variants
The M5 Pro, Max, and Ultra variants are expected to feature a “server-grade” System-on-Integrated-Chips-molding-Horizontal (SoIC-mH) design.
This approach uses up to 50% less space than traditional SoC designs, improving thermal performance and minimizing throttling during intensive tasks.
Apple is also rumored to separate CPU and GPU designs in the M5 series, potentially unlocking greater performance gains, especially for AI workloads.
Production Timeline
M5 Base Chip: Mass production in H1 2025
M5 Pro/Max Chips: H2 2025
M5 Ultra Chip: Expected by 2026
