WeChat Pay is one of the biggest payment services in China and we were able to use it earlier this year in Shenzhen during our trip to Huawei headquarters. Apparently, Asia United Bank (AUB) has introduced WeChat Pay in the Philippines by enabling merchants via the AUB PayMate.
Basically, this service is targetted towards Chinese tourists that come to the Philippines and use their WeChat Pay as a payment option.
Potential merchants who want to accept WeChat Pay may use the AUB PayMate app to receive payments from customers. It’s basically based on QR codes similar to what Globe GCash and PayMaya have been doing these past several months, although AUB definitely has a very specific target market.
You can check out more details about the AUB PayMate and how you can use it to accept payments from WeChat Pay users here.
