Casio unveils new, solar-powered G-Shock GW-5000 Series watches

Listen to article

Casio has launched two new monochrome versions of its classic G-Shock watch, the GW-5000HS-7 and GW-5000HS-1.

These new models take the iconic square G-Shock design from the 1983 DW-5000C and add modern features like Tough Solar charging and Multi-Band 6 radio timekeeping.

The main draw of these models is their sleek, all-monochrome look. The GW-5000HS-7 comes with a white resin case and band, while the GW-5000HS-1 offers a stealth black version.

Both maintain the rugged construction G-Shock is known for, with a DLC-coated stainless steel screw-back case for added durability and scratch resistance. Casio has also switched to using bio-based resin for the case and band.

Functionality is a priority as well, with both watches offering 200-meter water resistance, world time, five daily alarms, a stopwatch, and a dual-illuminator display for better visibility at night.

The Tough Solar battery eliminates the need for frequent replacements, and the Multi-Band 6 feature ensures accurate time updates through automatic radio signals.

Price and availability

Both watches are now available on the official G-Shock UK website, priced at GBP 279.

These watches are also listed on Casio Philippines website, but there is no price available as of this writing.
