CES 2025: Roborock Saros Z70 Robot Vacuum with a “Mechanical Arm” to pick up

Roborock showcase the Saros Z70: The Next-Gen Robot Vacuum with OmniGrip Mechanical Arm

Robotic vacuums have a notable weakness: they cannot move large objects around the room. This means you may need to tidy up these larger items before setting the robot to clean, or the robot might simply ignore them. But what if there was a robot that could move those items? Roborock has showcased a robotic arm capable of moving items like slippers, shoes, and socks.

The Saros Z70 is an innovative robot vacuum featuring a telescoping robotic arm with a claw. This allows it to detect and pick up small items like socks and shoes. Once it finds an object, the Z70 extends its arm, grabs it, and moves it to a designated spot, such as a laundry basket.

However, the arm has some limitations—it can only lift items weighing up to 10.5 ounces (300 grams), so it won’t be able to handle heavier things like work boots. Currently, the Z70 only recognizes crumpled tissues, towels, socks, and sandals, but updates are planned to help it identify more items in the future.

During a demonstration, the Z70 showcased its abilities by picking up balled-up socks placed around the stage. After locating a sock, a door on top of the robot opened, the arm extended, and it lifted the sock off the ground, successfully moving it elsewhere. While the prototype had some hiccups, it was still impressive with its innovative features and potential for making cleaning easier.
