CMF confirmed to become independent subsidiary from Nothing

Listen to article

As per a report from TechCrunch, Nothing plans to make CMF, their affordable device brand, into an independent subsidiary. The company is currently working with Optiemus to establish a new headquarters for manufacturing and R&D in India.

The news follows the addition of Himanshu Tandon, who worked at POCO just last month. Now, he’s the current VP of Business for CMF.

CMF was introduced in 2023, offering a budget-friendly line of devices including earbuds, smartwatches, and smartphones. The sub-brand offered quality along with unique designs with strong demand in India.

Once separated, CMF will have an opportunity to set itself apart from Nothing. This move will follow a trend in the tech industry from companies like HONOR, POCO, and realme.

For reference, these companies separated from their parent companies Huawei, Xiaomi, and OPPO, respectively. CMF’s separation comes after just two years of its inception, which highlights its growth as a standalone brand.
