Following up on our previous report, the DJI Osmo Action 6 is now official, launched in China ahead of its global release on November 18. It features the world’s first variable aperture lens in an action camera and comes with a larger sensor and substantial performance upgrades.

At the time of writing, it’s priced at CNY 2,998 (~PHP 25K) with global pricing yet to be unveiled.

The camera has a 1.46-inch OLED display at the front and a 2.5-inch OLED screen at the back. In terms of battery, it has a 1,950mAh capacity

For imaging, it has a 1/1.1-inch sensor with 13.5 EV of dynamic range and a 155-degree field of view. In addition, it has a variable aperture ranging from f/2.0 to f/4.0 and can shoot in 4K at 60 fps at 1:1. It can also shoot 4K at 120 fps at 16:9 in slow motion with 38-megapixel photos.

Its predecessor has a fixed f/2.8 aperture that was a fixture for action cameras throughout the years. The new imaging system promises DSLR-level control in a rugged action camera’s body.
