Recently, Google Philippines announced that the tech giant will provide over 39,000 scholarships to Filipinos through its Google Career Certificates program. The said program revolves around digital skills professional training — skills of which are in-demand in the information technology (IT) industry. Giving scholars job opportunities while upskilling their digital knowledge without spending a penny. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) commences the initiative as they are now accepting online applications.
Google’s FREE digital certification programs include the four areas:
- Data Analytics — Data analysts collect, transform, and organize data in order to help make informed business decisions.
- IT Support — IT Specialists troubleshoot problems, so computers and networks run correctly.
- UX Design — UX designers make digital and physical products easier and more enjoyable to use.
- Project Management — Project managers ensure projects within an organization are managed and completed with maximum value.
Those interested may fill out DTI’s Interest Form here. DTI notes that applications will go through careful assessment due to limited slots.
DTI says that eligible to apply are Filipinos aged 18 and above, has a device with internet access, and committed to finish the course(s). Google Career Certificates program operates through Coursera wherein it will be a self-paced learning and runs up to 6-month completion.
The free training initiative is said to be in cooperation with the Department Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Globe Telecom, DTI, and Google which begins this December 2022.
