Elon Musk & Henry Sy Jr. team up to bring Starlink services in the Philippines

Henry Sy Jr. will now be launching a satellite broadband service nationwide by partnering together with Elon Musk.

According to Inquirer, Data Lake Inc., owned by Henry Sy Jr. and company chair Anthony Almeda has reached an agreement with SpaceX to be the first Starlink integrator in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.

Starlink

“The Philippines is an archipelago, and connecting our country to the wider world often requires extensive infrastructure. With the largest constellation of satellites on orbit, Starlink is a flexible service uniquely capable of providing high-bandwidth, reliable internet to the Philippines, even in times of natural disaster,”
— Anthony Almeda, Chairman of Data Lake Inc.

Last July, a Starlink representative stated that it is expected to offer a Starlink Router Kit starting at USD 599 and with monthly fees for commercial coverage starting at USD 99.

“Starlink achieves game-changing connectivity in hard-to-reach, remote areas on land, at sea, and in the air,”
— Jonathan Hofeller, SpaceX Vice President of Starlink Sales

The country could only benefit from this partnership, as Starlink continues to provide high-speed, low-latency internet already in over 40 countries through its low-orbit satellites.
