Listen to article

Google’s Gemini will reportedly be more useful in Android 16 reportedly getting deeper integration with Samsung’s stock apps.

New extensions, mainly designed to work with Android 16’s ‘App Functions’ feature, will enable users to control various aspects of Samsung’s core apps directly through Gemini.

With these extensions, Gemini could potentially interact with Samsung’s Clock, Notes, Reminders, and Calendar apps among others.

For example, users may be able to command Gemini to create, modify, or delete alarms, timers, and stopwatches in the Clock app. The same goes for Notes, Gemini could create, delete, find, or update note folders and individual notes, and so on.

Currently, Gemini has similar extensions for select apps. On Spotify for example, users could simply ask Gemini through voice command to play music—a feature which was lacking in Gemini during its early release.

Aside from Samsung, deeper integration with other OEM’s first-party apps remains to be seen.
