Government Satellite Network gets go-ahead from Duterte

Listen to article

As announced by Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, President Rodrigo Duterte gave the go-ahead for the PCOO’s Government Satellite Network project, which is slated for 2018.

The network will be responsible for transmitting government content, including videos, photos, audio, and other data to the entire country, including remote areas, as well as the rest of the world. It will use advanced satellite and IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) technology.

Aside from transmitting government content, it will also provide multiple-way 4K teleconference communication, Internet delivery, and multiple TV channels.

After all ” necessary legal work and other bidding matters” are settled, Secretary Andanar says that the GSN can be rolled out in 6 months to 42,000 Barangay Halls, all agencies attached to the PCOO and OOH nationwide.
