“The way people perceive work has evolved; they no longer exclusively seek fulfilment in their careers but desire success in all aspects of life. There is a huge opportunity for business leaders to reinvent work environments where employees thrive, find motivation, and balance their pursuits,” said Vinay Awasthi, Managing Director for Greater Asia, HP Inc. “This will also benefit businesses in the long run, as an empowered workforce is a catalyst for an organisation’s success.”

The study has analyzed people’s roles of work in their lives, abilities, tools, skills, workspaces, and their expectations towards leadership. They also factored the respondents’ well-beings’, engagement towards work, and productivity.

HP gathered their answers in 12 countries: U.S., France, India, U.K., Germany, Spain, Australia, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Canada, and
Indonesia. They garnered a total of 15,624 respondents: 12,012 being knowledge workers, 2,408 are IT employees, and 1,204 consist of business leaders.

It has been revealed that 27% of knowledge workers have a healthy relationship towards work. The country with the most healthy relationship with work is India while Japan has the least.

It also explains that 83% of workers are willing to earn less in order to be happier in work.

Although leaders are aware that emotional intelligence is important, employees have stated that it is not evident.
