HUAWEI unveiled the Matepad Mini

Listen to article

HUAWEI just unveiled a new premium compact tablet,  the MatePad Mini, rocking an 8.8-inch 120Hz OLED display, flagship-level cameras, and a super slim 5.1mm body.

The MatePad Mini weighs just 255g, but still manages to pack a 6,400mAh battery with 66W SuperCharge, good for up to 15 hours of video playback. That’s seriously impressive for something this thin.

Up front is a 2,560 x 1,600 Flexible OLED with 1,800 nits peak brightness, 10-bit color, and HDR Vivid certification. Inside, HUAWEI pairs an undisclosed chipset with 12GB RAM and 256GB or 512GB storage options.

For cameras, you get a 50MP f/1.8 main, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a sharp 32MP front cam — rare for tablets in this size class. Other highlights include stereo speakers, dual mics, USB-C 3.0, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and support for the HUAWEI M-Pencil Pro. Security comes via a fingerprint scanner on the power button, while HarmonyOS 5.1 runs the show.

In China, pricing starts at CNY 4,000 (PHP 32K) for the 12GB/256GB model and CNY 4,500 (PHP 36K) for 12GB/512GB. Users can also add a Soft Light display option for an extra CNY 500 (PHP 4K).

No word yet on international availability, but this could be HUAWEI’s answer to the iPad mini crowd.
