HUAWEI is finally bringing back a small but mighty tablet. Mark your calendars because the HUAWEI MatePad Mini is set to debut on September 4, and it’s shaping up to be the brand’s answer to Apple’s iPad mini.

HUAWEI just dropped a teaser this morning with the tagline “super strong, super Mini”. While they kept specs under wraps, the company hinted at flagship-level tech packed into a smaller form factor. Leaks suggest we’re looking at an 8.8-inch display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, powered by a Kirin 9020 5G chip, making this a pocket-sized powerhouse.
Design-wise, the teaser shows off a sleek build with a rounded camera module, and insider tipster DigitalChatStation says the tablet will come in Snowy White, Obsidian Black, and Spruce Green. Expect 5G connectivity and Nearlink support baked right in.
Huawei’s positioning the MatePad Mini as a direct iPad mini rival, finally giving fans a true flagship small tablet option. With HarmonyOS 5 running the show, we’re curious to see how this compact beast performs.
Stay tuned on September 4 when Huawei unveils the full package.
