Ivan John Uy, Secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), has officially resigned from his post, with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. accepting his resignation on March 6, 2025, Thursday.
In light of Uy’s departure, Malacañang has announced that an Officer-in-Charge (OIC) will temporarily oversee the DICT until a new secretary is appointed.
During his tenure, Uy spearheaded several key initiatives:
• eGovernment Services: Launched platforms such as the eGovPH App, eTravel, eLGU, and eReport to enhance public service delivery.
• Free Public Internet Access: Expanded the program to over 16,000 active sites nationwide, significantly increasing connectivity.
• Cybersecurity: Issued an updated National Cybersecurity Plan to bolster the country’s defenses against digital threats.
The DICT has assured the public that there will be no disruption in its services during this leadership transition.
Uy’s resignation marks the third Cabinet member to step down in recent weeks, following the departures of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista and Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cesar Chavez.
The administration is expected to announce Uy’s successor in the coming days to ensure the continuity of the DICT’s projects and initiatives.
