Leica Ventures into Home Entertainment with the Leica Cine 1 (4K Cinema TV)

Listen to article

Leica, the revered Photography brand, has now stepped beyond the lens to unveil its 4K Cinema TV, the Leica Cine 1.
Renowned for its distinctive red circle logo and a legacy of precision in optical engineering, Leica is extending its artistic vision to redefine home entertainment.

Initially introduced at IFA 2022 in Berlin, Germany, the Leica Cine 1 has drawn attention for its fusion of 4K triple RGB laser technology, sleek Teutonic design, and, of course, the unmistakable red circle emblem. In contrast to the unobtrusive aesthetics of competitors like LG Cinebeam, Leica’s Cine 1 demands attention. Its perforated silver aluminum casing, reminiscent of Leica’s camera design heritage, invokes echoes of Bauhaus principles, Dieter Rams’s design philosophy, and Apple’s original 2009 Mac Pro tower.

Beyond aesthetics, the perforated plates on the sides serve a dual purpose—enhancing the built-in Dolby Atmos surround sound speakers and ensuring optimal ventilation. The Cine 1, akin to a Leica camera, boasts signature optics, featuring a Summicron lens.

It features support for Wi-fi 6 and Ethernet, two HDMI 2.1 ports (one with eARC Support), a HDMI 2.0 port, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports, Google TV, and Apple Airplay 2 compatibility.

An intriguing feature is the automatic dust cover, a nod to Leica’s commitment to lens protection.

Unlike typical ultra-short throw systems, the Leica Cine 1 offers two fixed projection image size options—a 100-inch model and a larger 120-inch variant. Both models deliver approximately 2500 lumens. The singular image size approach prompts curiosity about its performance compared to other 4K UST projectors adhering to a similar format.

The Leica Cine 1 is currently available, priced at $8,995 (~ PHP 511,001.45) for the 100-inch version and $9,495 (~ PHP 539,406.20) for the 120-inch option.

For enthusiasts seeking the optimal viewing experience, Leica offers matching 100 or 120-inch ALR (Ambient Light Rejection) high-contrast screens to extract the finest picture quality from the projector.

Leica’s venture into the realm of home entertainment signifies a bold leap from iconic photography to redefine how we experience visual artistry in our living spaces.
