Meizu 16 and 16 Plus teased to have in-display fingerprint scanner and high screen-to-body ratio

A little over two months ago we were introduced to the Meizu 15 trio, a bunch of devices sporting notchless 16:9 displays. That news may still be fresh but today, Meizu founder and CEO, Jack Wong, just teased the successors to those aforementioned devices — the Meizu 16 and 16 Plus.

Mr. Wong posted the teaser on the Chinese official forums of Meizu showcasing the device’s in-display fingerprint tech and impressive screen-to-body ratio. According to Mr.Wong, the Meizu 16 pair has thinner overall bezels compared to the iPhone X and Mi 8.

Which gives the device an edge to both competitors when it comes to screen-to-body ratio, which is expected to be at least 84% (compared to 82.9% and 83.9% on the Apple and Xiaomi devices).

There are speculations that the two devices will sport different chipsets. The Meizu 16 is reported to be equipped with the Snapdragon 710 while the Meizu 16 Plus comes with the Snapdragon 845. These reports have yet to be confirmed, although Jack Wong did mention one of the devices will indeed have the SD845 chipset.

The Meizu 16 and 16 Plus is expected to be announced and launched sometime in August 2018.
