Pinoys in Japan can now send money to GCash Wallets

Listen to article

Filipinos in Japan can now send money directly to GCash accounts in the Philippines through PayForex, making remittances faster and easier without going to remittance centers.

GCash announced that it has partnered with the operator of PayForex, a Japanese fund transfer platform, to make money transfers available for overseas Filipinos. With this integration, Pinoys in Japan can now remit money from PayForex straight to the GCash wallets of their families in the Philippines.

The feature also lets Filipinos in Japan add money to their own GCash wallets using either their +81 Japanese numbers or Philippine mobile numbers. They can also use GCash to pay for goods in convenience stores.

GCash said many Filipinos in Japan already have their Japanese bank accounts connected to PayForex, making the process simple and familiar for users.

GCash has recently added several features for overseas users. The platform now allows users to hold US dollars directly in their wallets. In August, GCash also made its tap-to-pay feature available in other countries.

GCash’s business value reached $5 billion in August last year after new investments from Ayala Corporation and Japan’s Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group.
