Summary of advantages:

POCO X3 NFC
• 120Hz refresh rate
• Newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G processor
• Depth camera
• NFC
• IP53 rating
• IR Blaster
• Higher resolution for the ultra-wide camera
• Larger battery and faster-wired charging

realme 6 Pro
• Telephoto camera
• Dual-front cameras
• Larger RAM
• Dedicated microSD card slot

Display

Although both have a 6-inch FHD+ display, the POCO X3 NFC is slightly bigger with .67 inch difference compared to the realme 6 Pro. The former sports a punch-hole design that POCO describes as Dot display while the latter has a pill-shaped cutout for its dual front cameras. In this category, the POCO X3 NFC dominates, bringing in a 6.67-inch display with 395ppi and 120Hz refresh rate. The realme 6 Pro, on the other hand, has 399PPI and a lower refresh rate at 90 Hz. Both will provide a great viewing experience but the POCO X3 NFC wins thanks to the higher refresh rate.

Cameras

Both devices sport quad-rear cameras and 4K video recording at 30 fps, although the realme 6 Pro has a depth and a telephoto camera, which the POCO X3 NFC doesn’t have. Even though both have 64MP rear main sensors, the POCO X3 NFC uses the Sony IMX682 sensor while the realme 6 Pro is equipped with a Samsung GW1 sensor. The former also has a higher resolution ultra-wide camera and records 720p videos up to 960 fps.

For selfies, the realme 6 Pro has the advantage of having two cameras with a 16MP Sony IMX471 primary and an 8MP ultra-wide, secondary camera. If you like taking selfies, the realme 6 Pro is the more versatile shooter.

Remember, we’re just talking about pixels and the number of cameras. It doesn’t guarantee the best image quality. We’ll know more about that once we have reviewed both devices side-by-side.

Processor & Memory

Hardware-wise, both smartphones are powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 700G-series, the brand’s lineup of mid-range chipsets for mobile gaming. The POCO X3 NFC is powered with the latest Snapdragon 732G while the realme 6 Pro has the Snapdragon 720G which was launched last January.

Both are available in 64GB and 128GB UFS 2.1 memory and dedicated microSD card slots for expansion. The two, however, vary in RAM with the POCO X3 NFC offering 6GB LPDDR4X while the realme 6 Pro comes with 6GB and 8GB LPDDR4X. Do note that the local offering only has 8GB of RAM.

Kimovil’s AnTuTu v8 tests on the POCO X3 NFC yielded a score of over 301K, while the realme 6 Pro scored 281K. While the POCO X3 NFC scored better on synthetic benchmarks, we doubt that the difference is noticeable when it comes to day-to-day usage.

OS

Android 10 runs on both smartphones, however, each brand has its customized skins laid on top of it. The realme 6 Pro sports Realme UI while and the POCO X3 NFC has Xiaomi’s MIUI 12. Both have their own set of unique features and design, so we’ll leave it to the user’s preference.

Other features

Both the Realme 6 Pro and Poco X2 feature dual-SIM, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, 4G LTE, 3.5mm audio jack, face unlock, as well as side-mounted fingerprint scanners and power button combo. The POCO X3 NFC, as its name suggests, has NFC connectivity, in addition to an IR blaster, and an IP53 rating for dust protection and splash-proofing. It also offers more, especially in mobile gaming, with its quad antennas for more stable connectivity, 4D vibration, dual-stereo speakers that are Hi-Res audio certified, and a built-in cooling system while the realme 6 Pro has superlinear speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos and with Hi-Res Audio certification. Compared to POCO X3 NFC, the realme 6 Pro is lighter and thinner at 195g and 8.9mm.

Battery

When it comes to battery, the POCO X3 NFC has a larger 5,160mAh battery with a faster wired charging rated at 33W. On the contrary, the realme 6 Pro packs a smaller battery at 4,300mAh with 30W flash charging. While the POCO X3 NFC wins in terms of capacity, we’ll know which one provides the longer battery life once we have reviewed the POCO X3 NFC.

Price

Priced at PHP 16,990USD 290INR 24,544EUR 276CNY 2,108, the realme 6 Pro is available through realme stores, dealers, and online stores in 8GB + 128GB configuration. Meanwhile, the POCO X3 NFC is priced at PHP 10,990USD 187INR 15,876EUR 178CNY 1,364 for the 6GB + 64GB model, and PHP 12,990USD 221INR 18,765EUR 211CNY 1,612 for the 6GB + 128GB.

Which one to get?

At just one look, the POCO X3 NFC seems to have the most advantages. The 120Hz display, 8GB RAM option, newer chipset, and a larger battery with 33W wired fast charging are significant factors to consider most especially if you are looking for a decent, sub-PHP 15,000 gaming smartphone.

But if you’re looking for a camera-centric smartphone within a PHP 17,000USD 290INR 24,558EUR 276CNY 2,110, then the realme 6 Pro is for you.  It still has a nice set of rear cameras, double front cameras, a good display, a dedicated microSD card slot, and a decent battery with 30W wired fast charging. However, the price increase in exchange for a 2GB RAM upgrade may be steep for some.
